Fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods are inevitable and happen all over the world at a moments notice. These instances are terribly frightening and chaotic. Often animal companions are left behind, sometimes outside in the elements, and often locked inside the home. Without the right preparedness, these animals don’t stand a chance. Prior to 2006, government mandated disaster relief plans did not include domesticated wildlife, making it a bit more difficult to find means of aid. A bill was passed that requires state officials during an emergency to account for the entire family. Public Law 109-308 amending the Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act was approved by Congress on October 6, 2006. However, the effort still lies with the families to take control and prepare when disaster strikes. It’s very important that we have a disaster plan for the animals as well as the rest of the family. We’d like to help you prepare for such an emergency. There’s more reason to be well prepared and less important to worry it’s frivolous or time-consuming.
